Injuries That Require Protection From Water For The Healing Period - How Common Is This?

December 1st, 2009

National Vital Statistics say over 32 million patients will need this type of protection each year in the USA. Those customer’s should not be going out the door with their injuries wrapped in a garbage bag and duct tape!

Injuries such as broken bones, surgical sites, lacerations, burns, adverse skin conditions take time to heal properly. During this healing period, unwanted exposure to water can lead to infections or other moisture related delays in healing. Inpatient intravenous sites such as IV’s, PICC Lines, and Dialysis Shunts also require protection from water penetration and exposure. Why?

Water protection for open wound sites is crucial!
It is a fact that everyday water is not sterile. When exposed to open wound sites or bandages, water can introduce infectious bacteria to the area and to the blood stream - jeopardizing the healing process and drastically increasing the risk to the patient.

Due to the construction of Casts, water protection is mandatory!
Fiberglas or plaster materials form the hard supportive layer in splints and casts. Both Fiberglas and plaster splints and casts use padding, usually cotton, as a protective layer next to the skin. When cotton padding, synthetic padding, or plaster is used in the making of a cast, the cast must be kept dry.

If these materials become wet significant problems may develop.
When a plaster cast gets wet, the cast becomes soft, loses strength, and no longer adequately immobilizes the injured area. As a result, broken bones may heal in the incorrect position if the cast is not replaced.

When the cotton or synthetic padding gets wet, it is very difficult to dry.
As a result, the wet skin under the wet padding may develop rashes, infections, or become macerated. So patients must keep their cast dry if it has either a cotton or synthetic lining or if it is a plaster cast.

All of these conditions, created as a result of unwanted exposure to water, require further treatment while increasing patient risk and medical costs.

The new ArmRx offers superior water proof protection while ensuring patient comfort using no tapes, elastics, or latex. ArmRx is available for both the arm and leg and when properly installed, is virtually submersible and can be used for water protection even while swimming in a pool - a huge advantage over any other remedy that only “shields” a cast or wound site area from water. And best of all, ArmRx is available to patients nationwide at a fraction of the cost of any other similar device sold today!

WANTED: PHYSICIAN AND PHARMACIST SUPPORT!

July 18th, 2009

It’s a fact - surgical dressings, bandaged wounds, plaster casts, Intravenous sites, PICC lines, and different skin conditions and lacerations require protection from water during washing, bathing, or showering. Proper care is essential to a quick and successful recovery.

At ArmRx , we have spoken to thousands of patients who tell as that when their Doctor instructed them to keep their injury site dry, 95% of the time they recommended taping a bag over the area or suggested “holding it out of the water”? Anyone who has ever had to try using these types of makeshift “shields” will tell you they are difficult to apply, uncomfortable and just plain do not work.

WHY DO DOCTORS AND PHARMACISTS CONTINUE SUGGESTING THIS TO THEIR PATIENTS?
Is it because they are unaware of any reliable, affordable option?

Here’s some Straight Talk From Judy Gerber of Clyde, Ohio who asks the same question….

“You were so kind to me when last we spoke … approx. 8 mos. ago. I had just had reconstructive joint surgery on my hand and was contacting you regarding your Arm Glove. The info that you sent to me I took to my surgeon just as I promised you I would. He had to look it over of course, and the second visit his girl told me that he wasn’t interested. I was incredulous that a Dr. wouldn’t help his patients when he could. Especially when it was so in-expensive for him to do. I was disappointed. . . . and disappointed in him as a person.

Now I am looking at foot surgery on the 21st of next month. I’ll have numerous sutures in the top of my foot for 2 weeks and of course I am interested in being able to purchase the Leg Glove so that I am able to shower as I did when my hand was casted. Do you recall the problems I had finding the “Arm Gloves” back when I needed them? WHAT’S THE MATTER WITH PEOPLE that they don’t offer such a wonderful product where we can purchase it, I wonder.”

Sincerely yours,
Judy Gerber
Clyde, OH

When we asked Judy for her permission to publish her comments at the www.armrx.com website, she provided even more insight regarding her long term experience using ArmRx:

“In regard to your first proposal about using my remarks on your website, you certainly have my permission, but I think so many more good things about your Armglove, having used it for over 8 months, every single day of that time. No worries, no leaks and I used only two that entire time. I took good care of the glove, yet used the two of them hard. None of this was included in what I wrote originally on the 16th.

This (foot) surgery will not have nearly as long a recovery time as my hand, yet 14 days with sutures, and no shower, in this weather could seem like forever. I believe that people should be as comfortable and as clean as possible while they are attempting to heal & recover!!

I am going to call O.E. Meyer tomorrow morning and you might be interested in knowing that they have a branch office right over in Fremont, (Ohio) approximately 8 - 10 miles from here … so I could easily run over there to pick up a Leg Glove. I am glad you put me on to the fact that they carry your product. I don’t know what I’d do if I had to go for a number of days with maybe a cast or sutures in my hands or legs and could not step into my shower knowing that my surgical site was protected. I’d no doubt be trying to rig-up a garbage bag and fasten it with Duct Tape or some other silly thing!!

… thank you for all the kind consideration you’ve given to my situation. Please feel free to use whatever you want to on your site. Perhaps you can pick and choose from these two latest communications and put together a testimonial worthy of your great product.”

Sincerely yours,
Judy

On behalf of everyone here at ArmRx, a very special thank you goes out to Judy Gerber for her use and support of the ArmRx Cast, Bandage, IV & PICC water protection products. We hope your message reaches Doctors and Pharmacists everywhere - ArmRx should be both recommended and made available to the patient at point of care… at the same time they are told to keep the area dry! Thanks again, Judy - we could not have said it better ourselves!
